Carry on Jatta doesn’t only revolve around just one or two characters but it involves each and every character in the story. The confusion starts when Jass (Gippy Grewal) lies to Mahie (Mahie Gill) about his family so that she agrees to marry him and somehow Honey (Gurpreet Ghuggi) has to be the part of Jass’s lie. So even though they say the lie has no feet but Jass and Honey have to follow the footsteps of their lie and they continue to tell lies upon lies just to hide one.
After Jihne Mera Dil Luteya, Gippy Grewal turned to a smile-less action packed hero in Mirza-The Untold Story and the movie got just about decent response. But with Carry on Jatta, Gippy Grewal has caught back his comic and entertaining side. This time he has got a superb supporting cast, the comedy giants like Gurpreet Ghuggi, Binnu Dhillon, Jaswinder Bhalla, B.N. Sharma, Rana Ranbir and last but not least Karamjit Anmol.
Romantic comedy is the most preferential genre for Punjabi movies these days and Carry on Jatta fulfils this preference flawlessly. As they say that don’t look for the logics all the time, some times the motto is just entertainment. The crew of this movie have definitely followed the motto of entertainment and have succeeded in doing so.
Most of the characters in the movie have already proved their mettle in Punjabi cinema in fact they have been doing it from the last few years. Gippy Grewal has given one his best performances ever since he has started contributing into the Punjabi movies. Mahie Gill has also looked like she is comfortably fitting back in the Punjabi movies after her success in Bollywood movies. Gurpreet Ghuggi, Binnu Dhillon, Jaswinder Bhalla, B.N. Sharma, Rana Ranbir, Karamjit Anmol, Anshu Sawhney, all these characters were completely involved in the story too and the whole cast has succeeded to make their mark.
We need not to speak too much regarding the music of Carry on Jatta because most of its songs are already beating around. Songs like Phulkari, Carry on carry on Jatta, Marjawan and Sweety can be heard being played everywhere, whether it is on TV Channels, Radio or even in people’s cars. The Background music is also very situational and is suited to every moment.
Other technical perspectives like cinematography, screenplay and dialogues are also very well taken care of. So there are very few loop wholes in the movie to discuss but so much to enjoy too. All in all leave your minds at home, forget about the logics just enjoy the entertainment and it will carry on entertaining you all the way through for sure.
The weakest points of the movie are within the first 20-30 minutes, where there are three to four songs in a quick succession and the story fails to get up during that time. But after that weak part the movie carries on picking itself up and gets entertaining, and from then onwards, one can’t stop laughing till the end. Even though the climax seems a little more stretched than required but still it doesn’t trouble the theme by much.
